Bertil Nilsson | Bertil Nilsson on Tumblr (b.1981, Sweden/UK) - Eike von Stuckenbrok (2009)
Analytical, enterprising and positive, Bertil Nilsson is a Swedish-born and London-based artist-photographer. Grace, humanity and expressiveness, Bertil’s work often comes back to the incredible potential of the human body, how it can be pushed and what we can express with it through movement, across language and cultural barriers. “I’m fascinated by all the amazing things we as humans can do if we really try. Anyone that pursues something out of the ordinary, exploring new ground, not repeating themselves or others, is a huge inspiration to me.” Bertil collaborates extensively with dancers and circus artist, you can find more works and in formation on Bertil’s website and Tumblr. Bee butt!
Dear person living with depression,
I hope this spreads.
In addition, for a brief respite from suffering, may I suggest (a) selflessly doing one small thing for another person or other living being, or (b) contemplating how a mundane thing or experience can be regarded as objectively beautiful.
Christiane Baumgartner’s work deals with the convergence of speed and standstill. Her choosen format is monumental monochrome woodcut taken from her own video stills. She combines the earliest and the latest reproduction processes: woodcut and video. Speed and the passage of time are recurring themes throughout her work. The notion of ‘time’ is also embodied in her artistic process, which involves the lengthy and painstaking medium of handmade woodcut, with all its inaccuracies and mistakes. (cf. artist’s statement)

Jack Hardwicke | The Eidophusikon (b.1989, UK) - Up In Smoke / African Dusk
Neurotic, thoughtful and excitable, Jack Hardwicke is a young self taught photographer based in Brighton on the South East English coast. Jack’s photography is abstract, interesting and pretty. His blog, The Eidophusikon, cames from a piece of art created by the English painter Phillip James de Loutherbourg in the 18th century that has been called an early form of cinema. The concept revolves around using mirrors and pulleys to create the illusion of movement and giving his paintings life. The idea of using images to create an illusion and a unique perspective is what drives lot of Jack’s work. “The world is full of interesting and beautiful sights and these are not always obvious and may often pass us by, I try to enhance those every day things that we don’t see or make them something worth seeing. In the main I just want to create interesting images for interested eyes.”
The music often enhances Jack’s creativity and imagination, so as other artists. “I am extremely fond of work of some Tumblr users, Jimmay Bones and Michael Chase (areaofinterest) in particular”. You can visit Jack’s Tumblr for more work. (Interview with artist by ARTchipel Apr-2012)

Aha, one that I’m familiar with. Not bad, but I think he needs darker eyebrows, a 5 o’clock shadow, and eyes not so open. Perhaps the corners of his jawline would be more prominent, from his habit of brooding?
Heathcliff, Wuthering Heights, Emily Brontë
His thick brown curls were rough and uncultivated, his whiskers encroached bearishly over his cheeks…A ray fell on his features; the cheeks were sallow, and half covered with black whiskers; the brows lowering, the eyes deep-set and singular. I remembered the eyes…Do you mark those two lines between your eyes; and those thick brows, that, instead of rising arched, sink in the middle; and that couple of black fiends, so deeply buried, who never open their windows boldly, but lurk glinting under them, like devil’s spies…Compressing his mouth he held a silent combat with his inward agony. (Multiple suggestions)

Illustrations of Chemical compounds by Rex
An ultra-cool set of posters! Dopamine is the one I am most familiar with and it’s a very interesting chemical not only because it causes our emotional responses, but because it controls the ‘reward system’ of our brain which in turn motivates us to repeat actions that we enjoy (even if they are not good for our overall health, as is the case with chemical addiction).
But rather than dwelling too much on the more serious effects of these chemical responses, focus more on the greatness of the posters!
this is sexy and needs to be on my dash
I submit changing Dopamine from “happiness” to “cravings”, give Seratonin a chance to shine instead.
